Geelong’s 160^th anniversary will be heightened after the club received an exciting fixture for the 2019 season.

The Cats will face high quality opponents at home, with Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Carlton, North Melbourne, St Kilda, GWS Giants, West Coast, Sydney and Adelaide all visiting GMHBA Stadium. Home games at the MCG against Essendon and Hawthorn round out the home slate of fixtures.

“This fixture is a win for our members and supporters, with a great range of time slots and opponents for our home games,” Geelong’s acting CEO Sarah Albon said.

“The AFL always has a difficult task balancing 18 clubs requests, and we are pleased that the AFL has again scheduled nine home games at GMHBA Stadium and two at the MCG. The spread of games at GMHBA Stadium will be appealing to our members and supporters, with a heavy emphasis on Saturday and Sunday games.

“We receive significant feedback from our our members, supporters and the local community that playing home games at GMHBA Stadium is important to them. The atmosphere created at GMHBA Stadium is incredible, and we know that our members and supporters will again be creating a great match day experience at our home games. 

“Overall we have ten primetime night games spread over Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, along with a mix of day and twilight games. This provides opportunity for people of all ages to attend games through the season.

“The 2019 season will also see us host the Powercor Country Festival for the first time. Essendon has been the home team over the past three years and to have this as a home game will further enhance this fixture.”


Highlights of the 2019 Cats AFL fixture include: 

• Nine home games at GMHBA Stadium and two home games at the MCG
• Sixteen games in Victoria, including nine at GMHBA Stadium, five at the MCG and two at Marvel Stadium
• Geelong will host the annual Powercor Country Festival for the first time when facing Essendon in round 7 at the MCG
• Ten primetime clashes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, and the annual Easter Monday blockbuster against Hawthorn
• Twelve games live on Channel 7 and all games on Fox Footy, including nine exclusively. All games will also be available on the AFL live pass.
• Opportunities for Cats supporters in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide to see the team in action
• Potential milestone games for Harry Taylor 250^thgame (round 14 vs. Port Adelaide), Tom Hawkins 250^th (round 19 vs Sydney), Mitch Duncan 200^th (round 21 vs North Melbourne), Cameron Guthrie 150^th (round 9 vs Western Bulldogs), Mark Blicavs 150^th (round 18 vs Hawthorn)
• Chris Scott will coach the Cats for the 200^thtime in the round 10 clash with Gold Coast
