Geelong has selected Darcy Fort at pick 65 in the 2018 NAB National Draft.
A mature aged ruckman, Fort joins the Cats after a standout season for Central Districts in the SANFL.
“Darcy Fort originally played his football in Geelong with the Geelong Falcons and South Barwon Football Club,” Cats recruiting and list Stephen Wells said.
“He went and had a bit of time with the Bulldogs in the VFL program, and then the last couple of years he’s been outstanding for Central Districts,” Stephen Wells said.
“As we know ruckmen can take a bit of time to develop and Darcy has certainly filled out to be able to compete really well at senior level in the last couple of years.
The 25-year-old is following in the footsteps of Tom Stewart, Tim Kelly and Ryan Abbott as recent mature age draftees.
“The fact that he’s from Geelong , meant that we were really comfortable with him coming into our program.”
