Geelong has used two selections in the 2017 NAB rookie draft, adding the versatile Stewart Crameri and redrafting Matthew Hayball.
Crameri is a veteran of 99 AFL games with Essendon and the Western Bulldogs. He debuted with the Bombers in 2010. Crameri went on to kick 96 goals in 57 gamed with Essendon before joining the Bulldogs in 2014. He played 42 games and kicked 70 goals for the Dogs,
Crameri was the Bombers leading goal kicker three times (2011, 2012, 2013) and also led the Bulldogs in goals in 2014.
Hayball has spent the past two years with the Cats after being selected with the 70th pick at the 2015 national draft. Hayball has played 32 VFL games with Geelong, kicking 18 goals. Hayball was delisted at the conclusion of the 2017 season, but the club committed to redrafting him.
“Stewart has shown himself to be a versatile player who can give us options when he is fit and at his best,” Stephen Wells said.
“His ability to play at both ends of the ground will give us flexibility and we are confident Stewart is over the hip injury that restricted him in 2017.
“We committed that we would redraft Matthew as he was a contracted player for 2017. He has already commenced pre-season training and he is giving himself every chance of being successful next season.”
