Five-time premiership player Dermott Brereton believes Joel Selwood could be the toughest player since Leigh Matthews.
Speaking on 1116 SEN, Brereton reflected on his 1983 premiership teammate, comparing the current-day Geelong skipper to the man known as “Lethal Leigh”.
“They are asking whether he’s [Selwood] the toughest bloke in football,” Brereton said.
“Let’s take it a step further if you want the question to be real. Is he the toughest bloke we’ve ever seen play?”
“He’s extraordinary … I view him as an extraordinary footballer who is perhaps the toughest at the ball since I saw Leigh Matthews.”
