Geelong superstars Joel Selwood and Tom Hawkins have jetted off to the US to put their strength, stamina and ability to the test.
The Cats duo have been selected by hydration giant Gatorade to head to their Sports Science Institute in Sarasota, Florida.
But before the Cats get hooked up to the state of the art equipment they will also get a taste of the best the US sports scene has to offer as they attend the NFL’s AFC divisional playoff between Denver and Indianapolis as well as the NCAA Championship game between Ohio State and Oregon.
The Cats won’t be alone on the trip with 2014 Grand Finalist, Sydney, also sending two players.
Last year, Gold Coast’s Gary Ablett Jnr and Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury were selected to attend the Gatorade Sports Science Institute.
Ablett commented on returning from the trip that there were many things he took away from the visit that he used to enhance his performance and training.
Cats general manager of football Steve Hocking said the club was excited for the opportunity presented to the players.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for the players, our club and the league as a whole.” Hocking said.
“The Gatorade Sports Science Institute is at the cutting edge of research into maximising performance in athletes and we believe what Joel and Tom will get out of the visit will be invaluable.”
Selwood and Hawkins will maintain their preseason training program whilst away.
