Where did the Cats win?
Cats TV asked Mackie and Gullan what areas of play had the most impact on last week's win over the Dockers?
Cats TV spoke to Andrew Mackie and journalist Scott Gullan about last week’s eleventh win for the season against Fremantle on Argue the Toss.
Both Mackie and Gullan agreed it was the Cats’ defensive pressure that enabled them to dismantle the Dockers who were scoreless in the third quarter.
According to Mackie the Cats’ performance last Saturday night made it impossible on several occasions for Fremantle to make any impression on the scoreboard.
“We were hard to score against and there were no easy goals, compared to the week before where we were easy to score against in the last quarter, so that was pleasing,” Mackie told Cats TV.
“If we can do that next week it will be very helpful.”
Gullan predicted Geelong would come in hard and pick up the momentum, after coming off such a devastating loss against Brisbane.
“I was expecting a statement because Fremantle came in and they had a couple of injuries, but Geelong had to flex their muscles and I thought we saw that and like Mac said, the defensive pressure was at a level that we haven’t seen,” Gullan said.
This week Joel Corey will play his 300th game and after his gallant display last weekend Mackie doesn’t believe he’ll be finishing up anytime soon.
“He’s been brilliant, he’s been a great guy to have around the club and obviously his footy has spoken for its self over his 10, 11-year period,” Mackie explained.
“He’s an absolute workhorse, so to have him on the weekend doing what he did was great, there is no doubt that he’s got some good footy ahead of him.”
