Cats TV ask Josh Hunt and AFL journalist, Adam McNicol, what the Cats should do to combat the Dockers' hungry defence on Argue the Toss?

It’s Fremantle’s hard defensive force that has crippled so many sides this year, this weekend it is up to Geelong to crack the code to push the Dockers aside.

Hunt says the Cats will need to dissect their game closely to uncover their game plan, as many teams are finding it difficult to break forward.

“They are doing something that no one can pick up on and I think for any team playing Freo to beat a defensive style like that they’ve obviously got guys working together, and like Adam said they are all playing a genuine role for the side,” Hunt explained.

“I think it just comes back to winning your one on one contests and getting it forward.”

McNicol believes patience will be the key for the Cats this week against the Dockers.

When playing a side like Fremantle, teams can’t afford to race it down too quickly, unless they have the strength to out run their defence.

“I would have thought for the Cats this week that you’ve got to win the ball out of the middle, because you’ve got to get it into your forward line before they’ve got all their numbers back."

"(Otherwise), if you’re coming forward and they have got their numbers back they’ll just have to be patient, you can’t just bomb it up because they’ll have five or so blokes up there,” said McNicol.
