Cats TV asked Andrew Mackie and journalist Scott Gullan if they thought the winning streak over the Hawks affected the players’ mindset on Argue the Toss?

This Saturday night the Cats will be aiming for their eleventh game in a row, however, Mackie concedes that it has nothing to do with the Kennett curse or the streak.

He says the Cats are concentrating on playing their best brand of footy in hope of topping off the competition’s leading contenders.

“We’re in the now, you know it’s a big game for where we are this season and we want to give ourselves a chance to make top four and this week is critical to that.”

“There is a lot spoken about the ten in a row but for us it’s not spoken about really, and for this year it’s a big game and that’s all we’re focused on.”

Gullan believes the last ten games between the two leaders have a significant impact on the way the Cats and Hawks perform, especially during the last few minutes of the game.

“Evidence shows it’s going to be close and that’s where I think, I mean people say this streak doesn’t, but it is a factor in the last quarter,” Gullan explained.

“If you’re a Hawthorn player you’ve seen Geelong come back from three four goals down, you’ve seen Hawkins’ kick goals after the siren and you know that this is where you guys shake, so it’s definitely a factor and people can play it down, but during the game in the last quarter people think about what’s happened in the past.”
