GEELONG are back in the top eight after their 30-point win against North Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday.
We've broken down the stats that matter in this week’s edition of ‘By The Numbers’ presented by Deakin’s Centre for Sport Research.
Cats Dominate Team Stats
If you missed the game and went straight to the team statistics sheet to help predict the winning margin it would point towards a convincing win for the Cats.
Geelong won disposals (441 to 321), Inside 50s (64 to 43), clearances (44 to 26), contested possessions (149 to 118) and one percenters (56 to 32). However, they were let down by some wayward kicking in front of goal finishing with 10.17.
“If you looked at the numbers overall, you would be happy except when you got to the conversion. A lot of shots, a lot of inside 50s, a lot of possession. All the numbers were positive,” Coach Chris Scott said post-game.
Scott Post Match
Chris Scott says his side has a lot of improvement to make in their execution and 'overall system' and also provided an update on Paddy Dangerfield, who left the ground proppy
“We had some hard shots, but our conversion wasn’t great.”
“We have got some things that aren’t quite in sync at the moment, but hopefully when we get a bit more consistency with our personnel it will start to marry up with some of the things we are working on during the week.”
Stewy’s Career High Night
Tom Stewart cracked 30 disposals for the first time in his career.
The rebounding Cat also had a game-high 14 intercepts and 11 marks to be named in Geelong’s best and continue his fine start to the season.
Brandan Back With A Bang
Brandan Parfitt demonstrated how much they missed his presence in the guts last week with a dominant role in the middle of the ground against the Roos.
Parfitt finished with a career high 34-disposals, eight clearances, seven tackles and six score involvements.
A Fitting Farewell
Pre-game Geelong celebrated the recent retirements of two club legends with Gary Ablett Jnr and Harry Taylor doing a lap of honour at GMHBA Stadium.
Between them they played 527 games for Geelong, won four premierships, received 10 All Australian Blazers, won two Brownlow Medals and two Carji Greeves Medals.

Cats Own Third Term
The Cats haven’t lost a third quarter so far this year.
On Sunday, the Cats won the term 4.3 to 2.1, extending their lead to 20 points at the final break to setup the victory. Sam Menegola kicked two goals in the third including this snap with the support of Tom Hawkins.
