ANDREW Mackie will miss Sunday's clash with Gold Coast due to a quad strain.
The extent of the triple premiership defender's injury is explained by Cats physio Mark Young in the latest edition of nib Medical Room on CatsTV.
"He had some quad tightness towards the end of the [Fremantle] game, and scans this week have shown there’s a small quad strain, so he'll go into a short stint of rehab," Young said.
Young also discusses:
* Veteran midfielder Jimmy Bartel, who missed the round two loss to Freo after suffering a head knock near the end of the round one defeat to Hawthorn.
* Inexperienced onballer Josh Cowan, who has been battling a minor hamstring problem.
