Six changes as Cats head north
Geelong has made six changes to its side to take on Gold Coast including welcoming its third debutant in two weeks
Shane Kersten will make his debut for the Cats in the game and will be joined by premiership stars Steve Johnson and Allen Christensen, young gun Josh Caddy and veteran duo Jared Rivers and Hamish McIntosh.
Making way for the Cats are Harry Taylor (knee), George Horlin-Smith (back), Dawson Simpson (managed) as well as Darcy Lang, Jesse Stringer and Brad Hartman who have all been omitted.
Kersten was the Cats 2nd pick (34th overall) in the 2011 draft. A key forward from East Fremantle, Kersten booted 41 goals for the VFL Cats last season and has kicked nine in his only three appearances for 2014.
Whilst Johnson, Rivers and McIntosh were all managed last week and missed the Saints game, Caddy will be playing his first AFL game since breaking his foot in April and Christensen his first since last year’s preliminary final loss.
Hartman, Stringer and Jed Bews will be the emergencies for the game.
The Cats (9-3) are yet to lose to the Gold Coast (7-5) in four encounters however the Suns have played inspired football in 2014 and have made Metricon Stadium one of football’s toughest road assignments.
